Hey All.

I am just introducing myself here. My name is Eric Chamberlin and I have been paddling for a few years but have just recently bought my own boats. Not sure how welcome sit on top paddlers are here although we have one of each. The brand new boat is a Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 that we bought from Paddle Sports in Carpinteria and the sit in is a used Perception Acadia II tandem that we picked up on Craigslist. My wife and I are dual military stationed on the Seabee base in Port Hueneme and have a 5 year old son.

I started paddling in Little Creek Virginia while attending a 2 month school. The MWR boat rental shop had just closed for the season but an employee told me that they didn't lock up the boats and if I could get my own paddle and life jacket that I was welcome to take the kayaks and canoes when ever I liked. That night I picked up a cheap Stearns jacket (which I still use) and a paddle from Dick's Sporting Goods and have been tooling around ever since. In fact many of our date outings (almost 8 years ago now) were paddling on San Diego Bay while we were stationed in Coronado.

On a recent deployment I got to paddle with my brother who has lived in the Kanto Plains area of Japan for the last 12 years. He and I paddled Yokohama bay and much of the area coastline of Japan. Incredible experience!

So now we have our own boats and are absolutely loving the activity together on water.

Looking forward to doing some paddling with others in the area.

Thanks!

Eric

Welcome Eric.

All boats are welcome here.

We often have practice and play days at Channel Islands Harbor (launching at Kiddie Beach next to the Coast Guard Station). We are often at that location Sundays at 9 AM. Sometimes those paddles are posted on the CKF web site and sometimes we just show up.

You are welcome to join us.

Best regards,
Lee

Thanks for the welcome. We have put in at the public boat launch on the Channel Islands Harbor Park where the big trailer ramp facility is and also at the public launch behind Vons on Victoria Ave. The launch behind Vons is great. It gives a good long warm up on your way out the channel to open water.

Check the web site for the put-ins. We usually launch from Kiddie Beach, or Hobie Beach during the summer. Most of us are cheap and there are no fees to launch or park there.
