Paddlers,
On behalf of The Black Canyon Expedition Commission I invite paddlers to join us for 4 days of R&R April 23 through April 26. Mark your calendars.
Friday evening we meet at Lake Mead campground to make music and sacrifices to the river leprechaun gods.
Saturday we drive to Willow Springs, Arizona to paddle up river to Arizona hot Springs to camp.
This year it may be possible to put in at the dam with an outfitter and paddle downstream to the camp site. Esteemed CKF Board Member and one of the founding members of The Black Canyon Expedition Commission (Paula Chavez) would like to look into this option. We are not allowed to enter at the dam without a licensed outfitter. Please let Paula know if you are interested in this option.
Sunday we explore the hot springs, caves, and other interesting features in the canyon on foot and by paddle. The trip is loosely organized. You can spend the weekend in the hot pools and or hike and paddle to your hearts content.
Sunday we drift down with the current to Willow Springs to drive home.
Overnight Parking at Willow Springs and the camping on the river is free with no reservations needed.
