Item: MARINER XL
Dimensions: Length: 17'1" Beam: 23.5 inches Cockpit size (inside):32.5" X 15"
Condition: GOOD!!!
Price: $1,250.00

Description: This renowned performance kayak easily paddles a stable course through flat, swell, or choppy water -- yet responds easily to a leaning paddler. The boat is a versatile medium volume sea kayak with the best in design, material, construction and custom options as befitting Mariner's famous Broze brothers designs. The boat tracks positively, providing the least possible resistance at cruising speeds and inspires confidence in rough conditions: smooth predictable motions, dynamic stability in waves, control of side slipping, and a gentle (no pounding) dry ride. Paddlers from 122 to 220 pounds, with up 12 feet and a 36 inch inseam, will find the cockpit secure and comfortably roomy. Depth at front of cockpit (inside): 12 inches. Although indeed built by Mariner kayaks, the Broze brothers had neighboring Northwestern Kayak rig this the particular boat with a standard foot-operated rudder.

The Broze brothers retired in 2007, which was the last year Mariner kayaks were built (although they still maintain their webpage with phone services). At that time, the Mariner XL sold for $2,695, plus $149 for the large rear hatch. This boat is up for sale for best offer over $1,250.

Fiberglass, well-cared for, though some scratches. Approximately, 10 years old.

"Sea Kayak Magazine" review of XL
http://www.marinerkayaks.com/mkhtml/xlrvtxtw.htm

All Mariner kayaks (before '97) are available in combinations of over a dozen shades of gelcoat. The fiberglass outside seam (1" wide) is normally black to match the coaming rim, seat, hatches and other deck hardware. (however the outside seam can be any of the other available gelcoat colors, but adds $40.00)

Standard rigging includes toggled grabloops on heavy duty (3/8" dia.) stainless steel U-bolts at the bow and stern (for securing with bike cables or chain and an easy two person carry), a full complement of functional deck lines (see diagrams of two), foredeck hatch or access port (Coaster, Elan, Express, XL and MAX are equipped with 4" Beckson access port, the Mariner II has a 7" round VCP hatch) and choice of several cockpit seating arrangements. Include adjustable padded backrests and adjustable foot braces.

All MARINER kayaks are custom finished. You can choose the outfitting (decklines, seats, hatches, bulkheads, etc.) that you want and not have to accept extras you don't want.
