Newport Beach Night Paddle
Paddle season never seems to end in SoCal it just slows down in the winter. The daylight savings-time change allowed reinstatement of the Wednesday night Newport Beach paddle and after this first midweek paddle it already feels like again we are in the full paddling season.

I arrived early to ensure I beat the freeway traffic and found Dublin Dave sprawled out resting on a picnic table. After some chatting and casually getting all my gear ready Duane arrived in his usual blast in and quick portage to the beach for the three of us to launch at the appointed time.

We opted for a relaxed paddle and made the loop inside the harbor. Not much to report other than the water was smooth after the wind died quickly with the sun setting. No other boats were out and it was so peaceful with the bay in our possession. There was just the occasional fisherman lurking at the bridges working the incoming tide.

Duane and I talked boat and paddle building and Dave seemed happy to paddle outside our chatter zone. It is always nice to be on the water especially in the evening to break up the workweek.
