At the Coast Guard beach a troop of paddlers rolled two very large outriggers down amongst our tiny kayaks. We managed to shove off and head down the channel before the behemoth outriggers took off. Shortly after rounding the end of the breakwater, Dublin Dave, who was not feeling chipper, returned to the Coast Guard beach.
Jack and Victor played in the surf and rocks on our way down the coast. We paused at Abalone Point to regroup then pushed on to Two Rock Point. Several paddled inside the rocks. At this point Jack chose to return.
From there it was a short hop to Laguna's main beach. Duane led the way through the 2 to 3 foot surf and the occasional larger set. Much to the chagrin of the waiting lifeguard there was no carnage. After a short break a crowd gathered to watch us launch through the surf. Again, no carnage! By the time Victor launched the crowd had lost interest and dispersed.
On the return the wind increased to create a bit of a chop. Ken and Barb were lucky enough to spot a whale.
At the Coast Guard beach landing, Rupert, the resident black swan, made a beeline for Henry's backside. Must be his red shorts! This was Brian's first introduction to the infamous Rupert.
We all headed to Java City for brew, chew, and tall tales. Another great day on the water. It doesn't get any better than this.
