I was surprised that we were able to do much of the Rock Race course on the way out to Rest Point and it was a little more open on the way back

Shark Rock and the Big Pool were runable even at a little under 4 feet of tide, but were much more "technical". You had to be right on line and have the right swell to take you though. Vickie got off line on her first attempt into the Big Pool, flipped in the current, and got caught up in some rocks. I flipped once at almost the same spot and when the confused current settled enough to roll, I rolled up and found that I had been carried into the pool upside-down without touching a thing. Unfortunately, there wasn't nearly enough water for that today. Anyway, she didn't even attempt to roll and this was one of those very-very rare situations when that was probably the best move. It was so hot that none of us were clothed for rock contact so I told her to swim away from the boat. Don carried Vickie on his bow and I rounded up the boat. It took a few minutes to get her reconnected with the boat in a safe spot, but she came out of it without a scratch.
After patiently listening to a lecture about the proper line into the pool by her adrenaline pumped over-protective husband, she insisted on trying it again and made it in fine. The rest of the day was like that - everything was smooth and fun.
Don and I did some additional planning for the Rock Race which I'll share on a different Email.
