The group traveled at a leisurely pace to the point and elected not to land there because of the slightly wild surf at Pirate's Cove. After resting and just fooling around for a bit we headed to Paradise Cove where all landed without incident. Well, almost. It seems one of our more experienced paddlers did a great job of landing, exited his boat and proceeded to fall backwards into the surf where the outgoing surf launched him perfectly on his back, paddle across his chest, out past the surf zone. Really cool launch sans boat.
After a little refreshment we launched, paddled back without incident and landed one by one at Dan Blocker without incident. This time the life guard came over as if to do something but didn't. He sort of approached me as I was getting my gear toegether. I think he was about ready to say something but I just looked at him and he walked away. No problems. We cleaned up and some of us "did lunch" at the Malbu Deli before heading home.
Another great day on the water; many old paddlng friends, some familiar faces missing, but..;
Any day on the the water beats a good day at...

Directions:
We will be launching from the west end of Malibu Road accessed from PCH and Webb Way. This is to avoid the present life guard assigned to the area. The last time we landed at Dan Blocker he was more interested in advising us of our liabilty and his great experience rather than mainting the safety of the landing zone.
From the Valleys: East on PCH from Malibu Canyon intersection. At the bottom of the hill turn right on Webb Way (signal) then right on Malibu Road following it almost to the end where in climbs back up to PCH. There is a public phone and a road down to the beach.
From the LA/Santa Monica area: West on PCH past Malibu Pier and Surfrider Beach. Cross the bridge continuing past the controlled intersection at Cross Creek. Left at Webb Way and follow as above.
