Ladies Day
I've always said a "picture is worth" more than a thousand words.

So here we are……a gorgeous day at the Ventura launch ramp……

getting ready to get wet, wild and in the water!

After introductions (some ladies came as far away as Ventura, Chino Hills and Santa Clarita, maybe to beat the 100+ heat?) we discussed the differences in what boat to choose, the pros and cons of renting a kayak, gear, resources, fabrics ("cotton kills" or "polypro" is preferred), kayak racks for our vehicles, clothing, clothing and more on clothing! What do you expect? We want to be comfortable, not too cold and not too hot and still be styling!

We played in the tiny surf backwards and forward, worked on our stroke frontwards/backwards and how to go in circles, pumped out the sand and water after a surf landing without a spray skirt, climbed out and then back onto our kayaks to see first hand how it's done, then carefully crossing the entrance of the harbor, so as not to get run over by the big boats to get to the protected side of the breakwater, to do a little kelp clean-up. I think this time I won the prize for the most interesting, a little plastic sand shovel!

A couple of the ladies turned back early. It was quite bumpy out there and they were feeling the motion-of-the-ocean. The one time I forget to bring the ginger cookies!

Soon afterwards the rest of us returned to the launch ramp only to discover how incredibly hungry being on the water can be. Off to Andreas for lunch and sharing more great stories of kayaking adventures while putting away some great clam chowder. Yum what a way to end a great day with a great bunch of ladies!!!

So when is our next ladies day? Maybe at the islands?

You decide and call me……..
