Channel Island's Parade of Lights

Thanks to Bill and Pam Schlotter for once again hosting us at their waterfront place for the Annual Parade of Lights, a nautical spectacle. There were dozens of beautifully lit and decorated yachts, thousands of spectators, a helicopter drawn Santa's sleigh and other festivities.

The parade was better than ever, the weather mild, the food great (especially "Emeril" Bill's chili!) and the company congenial.

An impressive traveling kayak rolling show was put on by Pam Schlotter, Pat Martin, Mike Brown and Dave O'Connor. Each kayak had "Ho" written in lightsticks on the bottom (Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho!). It was somewhat of an endurance contest as well, as they rolled multiple times in cold waters, in a number of strategically chosen locations. The crowd loved it!

Most of us sortied decorated kayaks, including light sticks, Christmas trees, garland, even a flashing helmet from Steve Wilson, a whole internally lit kayak from Pat Martin, a fairly large Christmas tree on Duane Strosaker's back deck, and a smaller one on Carol Miller's, scaled to her diminutive stature.

    Happy Holidays,
    George Miller
