Stop the Carnage Practice
Fourteen or so paddlers showed up for an 0900 launch at Kiddee Beach. The sun was shining, the skies were blue, the seas almost flat and just a slight surf was evident as we entered the POND. For an hour or so we practiced rescue skills, some bracing and paddling strokes, rolling techniques, etc.

After about an hour of such fun and a little frustration, as things don't always go as planned, some went off to play in the increasing surf to practice their surfing and bracing skills while others played in the crazy water where two currents meet.

To end our day of fun we paddled around the sea wall playing in the clapotis as we went. We then headed for the beach and Big Daddy-O's for food.

This was a great day to be out. The weather was in the low 70's and the sun was out and beautiful; the water was a little murky from the dredge but otherwise comfortable to play in. The skills we practiced today will make our coastal paddles for enjoyable and safer. Of all those present I cannot think of one person who has not benefited in the past by their participation in previous playdays. Most present were the same faces we see at all these events, a couple of newer, but now familiar faces were also there showing great improvements in skill. For those who didn't come you missed an opportunity to expand your horizons, either mildly or wildy as you like it. You missed an opportunity to become more at ease with King Neptune's quirky nature--your loss.
