Queen Mary Paddle
On Sunday August 18, 16 paddlers gathered under cloudy skies for the Queen Mary paddle. Along with the familiar faces there were many new faces and paddlers who we haven't seen in awhile.

The paddle over to the Queen was on smooth waters and we made good time. I've seen the Queen several times and while it's am impressive sight from land it is even more so from the water. The true scale of the ship really comes out when you see it from the water with an 18-foot kayak for scale. Several of the more adventuresome members wanted to "put a rope on the sucker and tow it home for a souvenir" Calmer and more pragmatic heads prevailed and we were off to shoreline village for lunch.

We all managed to land on the dock without any paddlers intentionally going in. We split up in to various groups to sample the many culinary offerings of Shoreline village. After an hour or so of eating and socializing we started home. The winds and boat traffic had picked up by now and the trip home was livelier. The conditions were still relatively calm but several less experienced members of the group enjoyed the opportunity of paddling in these conditions in the safety of a group. We had a fun but uneventful paddle home.

Thanks to all that participated in the paddle, it was a great day on the water and I hope to paddle with you all in the near future.
