Rescue Skills Practice
There were five of us that meet to practice self and assisted rescue skills at the Newport Aquatic center. We spent a little time on the beach briefly going over some of the basics, but we came to practice, not chat, so we were quickly in water. The water was warm, about 64, and we were having a great time. Steve 2, Harry and I worked on some rolls before moving to wet reentry's and rolls, assisted rescues and paddle float rescues. Steve brought his friend, and a new kayaker, Rob to the practice and he qiickly caught on. We will not be able to call him a beginer much longer.

We finished after about two hours of practice and decided to take a paddle across the bay and have a late breakfast at the surf rider cafe. It wouldn't be a true CKF event without food. Surf rider is on the ocean side of the Balboa peninsula and you can eat on picnic tables on the beach. It was great swapping tall tales and planing future epic paddles and adventures while chowing down on excellent breakfast burritos.
