Great news! We had a great discussion at both the FEST and on-line about dues, use of club money etc. Well you spoke and the Board listened. In fact we have come to a unanimous decision and here are the new dues programs.
Since quite a few people have already renewed for this year at $30 and we all agree that it would be a lot of work to start issuing refund checks and mailing them out (time that could be spent paddling), we have decided the following.
- All members who are paid up for this year as of June 30, will have their memberships extended at no additional charge for TWO additional years.
- Effective next year, dues will be reduced to $20/year (remember if you’re paid up by the end of this month, you will be extended until May of 2013.
Also, the club will continue to cater the FEST as we have done for the last 3 years PLUS, we will be paying for the main course at the Southwest Kayak Symposium Potluck (we will continue to invite all of the instructors as well).
Additionally, if you take a class given by Paddlesports of Santa Barbara, Xstreamline Kayaks,Southwind Kayak Center, and Aqua-Adventures we will give you a $25 refund. Limit one class per household per year.
And finally----Your chance to win big bucks while helping other club members. Every time you host or co-host a paddle (maximum of 1 host and 1 co-host per paddle), your name will be thrown into a hat. At next years’s FEST, the person who has hosted or co-hosted the most amount of paddles will be awarded a gift certificate to one of our sponsoring outfitters – Aqua Adventures, Southwind, Xstreamline, or Paddlesports in the following amounts.
- 1st Prize = $250.00
- 2nd Prize = $150.00
- 3rd Prize = $100.00
The only rule is that the paddle must be announced on our email list and published on our web site. The gift certificates will only be valid at ONE of the above mentioned outfitters and can be used to purchase anything that they have available to sell.
Hopefully everybody is happy with this. If you have questions, let us know. We are also still trying to work out a group class with both Southwind and Aqua Adventures. It’s difficult to out a class that can benefit a LOT of people and that can be worked into their busy schedules, but we’re trying.
